Lloyd P. Skinner - 90

Somonauk, IL - Lloyd P. Skinner, 90, of Leland, IL passed away, Monday, March 1, 2010 at Valley West Community Hospital in Sandwich, IL. He was born November 22, 1919 in Banat, MI the son of Leonard and Alice (Ireland) Skinner. He farmed in the Waterman – Leland area for over twenty years and retired from Caterpillar in Montgomery in 1985. He enjoyed fishing and spending time with his family and friends.

He is survived by five children: Roberta (Norman) Wesson of Leland, Richard (Phyllis) Skinner of Leland, Michael (Diane) Skinner of Divide, CO, Gary (Jill) Skinner of Waterman, Randy (Sheila) Skinner of Waterman; thirteen grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren; one sister, Ruth (Burel) Sanders of Edgerton, WI.

He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, Robert Skinner, Reed Skinner and Ralph Skinner, and one grandson.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, March 5, 2010 at Turner-Eighner Funeral Home in Somonauk with Chuck Miller officiating. Burial will follow in Leland Cemetery in Leland. Visitation will be from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, March 4, 2010 and again on Friday from 10:30 a.m. until the time of services at 11:00 a.m. at Turner-Eighner Funeral Home in Somonauk. It is hard to imagine summer days without his daily gentle amble, a smile on his face and his cane in hand. Genessee street will be emptier and darker without his presence.
