Alfred R. Demien - 90

Turner-Eighner Funeral Home Plano - Alfred R. Demien, 90 years old, passed away peacefully on January 17, 2010 at Provena Mercy Center surrounded by his loving family. Al was born in Elgin, IL, on December 14, 1919. He moved to Aurora, IL, and met Ruth Leaf and after a 6 week courtship, they were married on October 4, 1941 at Grace Lutheran Church and just celebrated their 68th anniversary.

Al was a proud veteran of WW II in the U.S. Army. He worked for Illinois Bell as a supervisor for 38 years. He was a member of Illinois Bell Pioneers and Loyal Order of the Moose.

He is survived by his wife, Ruth of Yorkville, IL; 3 children, Alfred C. Demien of Shell Lake, WI, Martha (Lester) Johnson of Kennesaw, GA, and Sue (Roger) Greer of Aurora, IL. He will be deeply missed by his grandchildren, Kelly Johnson, Joel (Michelle) Johnson, Ryan (Cindy) Greer, Randy (Tara) Greer, Analisa Greer, and Mary (Ron) Woodworth. He also leaves behind 10 great-grandchildren, Christopher and Cassidy Molinaro, Patrick Johnson, Nicholas, Maxwell and Rylinn Greer, Krista, Adam and Andrew Greer and Trevor and Benjamin Woodworth. He taught them all the love of life and woodworking in his workshop in the basement. They will miss him terribly.

He was preceded in death by parents, Alfred and Thyra Demien and a brother Forest Demien.

A memorial service and celebration of his life will be held on Saturday, January 23, 2010 at 2:00 P.M. at New Hope Lutheran Church (formally Good Shepard) on 115 Oak Street, No. Aurora, IL.
