Margaret and Family - Sincere condolences on the loss of your beloved son, brother and father. I pray for strength for you all during this terribly tragic time. I know it's small comfort at this time, but Dan's commitment was always for others until the very end - what a sign of his character. May God be with you all and may He sustain you and comfort you in the trying days, weeks and months ahead. You're in our prayers. God Bless you. Kristin Everett, Doug Rhoten, Katharine and Spencer

My thoughts and prayers are with Danny's family. I have known Danny for many year's. My family farm was a neighbor to Steve Stangland's farm in Blanchardville- one of my brothers was a hired man for Steve so all of us "kid's" use to run around together all summer. Dan and I would always laugh and talk about those days. I'm a member of Blanchardville's EMS and was on this tragic call. I lost 3 friends and Cody was my 1st cousin. This affects everyone in this small community- people are very close and know one another. This certainly will have a significant impact for a long time. My heart is with you all. I will miss you my friend.

Dear Margaret and family The internet has made our world so small, and reading the details of the fire was painful. Words cannot express my feelings. I remember Dan as the little boy, but he grew into a remarkable man, and died a true hero. I pray for comfort and peace to your family, and sweet precious memories carry you through the days ahead. God bless each of you, and that He wraps his arms around you in a cloak of comfort and understanding.

Mrs. Hardekopf and family-- I am so sorry to hear this news. Upon learning what happened it did not surprise me in the least to hear of Danny's heroic efforts. I worked with Dan for many years at Nicor and he remains to this day one of my favorite people I have worked with in my 27 years there. God bless you all and rest in peace "alpha-san".

Margaret & family, You have my deepest condolences on the loss of Danny. Whenever I think of him, I always remember the lone boy running around with all us girls whenever we came to play when we were kids. And I'll never forget the vacation we all took and fitting 12 people into one station wagon where Danny got to sit up front with the "men". My thoughts are with you at this time.

MARGE. RYAN, BRAD, HUNTER AND NICOLE...I DON'T KNOW IF YOU REALIZE HOW MUCH OF AN IMPACT YOUR DAD / SON MADE IN MY LIFE AS WELL AS MY KIDS. IT HAS BEEN SO MANY YEARS SINCE I'VE SEEN HIM OR YOU KIDS FOR THAT MATTER HOWEVER, HE WAS NEVER WAS FORGOTTEN BY ME. HOOKED ME UP WITH SOMEONE THAT BECAME VERY SPECIAL IN MY LIFE, TAUGHT ME HOW TO BAIT A HOOK WITH AN ICKY WORM, SWING FROM A ROPE IN THE "TIMBERS" , ACTUALLY GOT ME TO EAT BEEF JERKY AND YES, I STILL HATE DEER MEAT. AND ALL SITTING AT THE APPLE INN BAR SINGING THE MOST STUPID SONGS..!!! I KNOW THIS ALL REALLY SHOULD BE ABOUT PRAYERS ETC.....BUT TO ME, THIS ABOUT THE BEST TIMES OF MY LIFE WITH SOMEONE SO COOL, AND HOPEFULLY SOME REALLY FUNNY GOOD TIMES IN HIS

Margaret & Family,I have a lifetime of memories with Dan, from running as kids together, through our teens to the present. Hunting, fishing, sledding, swimming, and just doing what we did. Our infamous trip to California to farming adventures, there are so many great memories, too many to list here as they would fill a book! Dan might not have always shown up when he said he would, but he was ALWAYS there when I needed him! We remember what a good time we had when Don & Dan cooked the pig for our wedding. Even though we hadn't seen Dan for a while, we thought of him often and always asked about him. We know he was happy in Wisconsin, just being Dan. Wherever Dan went, he always had friends, he was so likeable. We will always have his frienship and whenever we think of our times together, I can't help but smile and laugh, and Dan would have liked that. Our prayers are with everyone who is feeling the pain of losing Dan. We know he is hunting now, finally catching that 30-point buck! We'll meet again, so have the gun oiled and the fishing pole ready. We love you, Dan!

My heart and thoughts go out to the Hardekopf family. He will truly be missed. God our Father, Your power brings us to birth, Your providence guides our lives, and by Your command we return to dust. Lord, those who die still live in Your presence, their lives change but do not end. I pray in hope for my family, relatives and friends, and for all the dead known to You alone. In company with Christ, Who died and now lives, may they rejoice in Your kingdom, where all our tears are wiped away. Unite us together again in one family, to sing Your praise forever and ever. Amen.
